The CPSP 2024 Plenary Event is set to be an inspiring journey, featuring dynamic speakers and a rich variety of activities. Our speakers, selected for their expertise, will cover topics crucial to pastoral care and psychotherapy, aiming to inspire, challenge, and engage. Alongside these sessions, bring a case study for our interactive working event, and be part of the CPSP Version of the Moth Radio Hour, a highlight since its debut in March 2023. As we finalize our exciting lineup, including more engaging activities, stay tuned for detailed announcements. We’re committed to delivering a program that educates, invigorates, and fosters growth in both professional and personal realms.
Reconnecting through Small Groups
In the wake of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the CPSP 2024 Plenary Event marks a pivotal step towards rejuvenating natural relationships and interactions. Emphasizing small group sessions, the event provides an intimate platform for attendees to engage, share, and collaboratively explore various topics. These gatherings are not just about professional discourse; they’re a route to rebuilding the close-knit community spirit that has been deeply missed. This format fosters deeper understanding, support, and a sense of togetherness, crucial in our collective journey towards recovery and renewed connections.
The Flanders Dunbar Award
The Flanders Dunbar Award, a prestigious honor within the CPSP community, recognizes exceptional contributions in the field of pastoral care and psychotherapy. This award, named after a pioneering figure in psychosomatic medicine, embodies our commitment to acknowledging those who have significantly influenced our profession and community. Recipients are celebrated for their innovative work, dedication, and impact. Details about this year’s award, including the honoree, will be announced soon, highlighting the continued excellence and evolution in our field.
The Power of In-Person Community
Since 2020’s Coronavirus outbreak, our CPSP Community has faced challenges, primarily due to our reliance on in-person interactions for community bonding. While tools like phone, mail, and Zoom have been helpful, they are limited compared to the richness of face-to-face communication. True interpersonal connection involves more than just words; it includes our eyes, body language, and presence in three dimensions. Despite the value of virtual meetings, they cannot fully replace the experience of being physically present together. Our community eagerly anticipates the day we can meet in person again, as there’s no substitute for the depth and authenticity of face-to-face interactions.
