“A TRANSFORMATIVE PATH: BRINGING THE CLINICAL PASTORAL MOVEMENT BACK TOGETHER”

Since the onset of the Coronavirus in 2020, the CPSP Community has been limping. The principal reason for our limp is that we rely principally on interpersonal face-to-face communication for bonding the community. With the virus we have needed to ration our face-to-face contact. The phone, mail and cyber connections – such as zoom – are useful, but they are all fragmentary. Nothing can match the presence of the body and soul in three dimensions. We further our community with many more instruments of communication than our larynx. Our eyes, the movements of our bodies, our breathing – there is much that goes into interpersonal communication, and much that is lost when communication is piecemeal or fragmented. One dimensional and two-dimensional cannot match three-dimensional. There is nothing like being there. We hear of Chapters which have had many serious and useful zoom meetings together, but which eagerly look forward to a meeting again in person. There is no comparison and no match for being there.

​The THIRTY-FOURTH PLENARY MEETING OF CPSP will be an in-person gathering, to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, March 17-20. For those who cannot be present, we will try to post some elements of it on zoom.

​We are happy to announce that the very competent Rita Bakr will again serve as Administrator of the Plenary which promises to be an engaging and informative working event. Some features include the CPSP Version of the Moth Radio Hour which was a great success at its inaugural appearance last year, the Flanders Dunbar Award presentation, Dynamic Speakers and Small Group Discussions. Other highlights of the program will be announced later.
